Today I was able to work with a client that had a medical malpractice funding 1 year ago with CMG. This client’s home was in jeopardy. They were 4 months over due on their mortgage payments and at risk of losing their home. At the time of funding, our underwriting team was able to efficiently underwrite the case, but also speak to the mortgage company on their behalf to adjust the payment schedule for the client allowing. I received a call from this client’s attorney today notifying us that their case had settled as planned. 1.5 million dollar settlement! Congratulations. Now we will be paid directly from that settlement. Here is the catch… if this client would have lost their case, they would not have lost their home, because of CMG’s non-recourse contract. I hope all of our clients can breathe a little easier knowing that there are cash options available to them, when there are no other.
