They were 4 months over due on their mortgage payments and at risk of losing their home.  At the time of funding, our underwriting team was able to efficiently underwrite the case, but also speak to the mortgage company on their behalf to adjust the payment schedule for the client allowing.  Our funding was wired to the mortgage company (due to the severity of the situation) and this client was able to keep their home.

I received a call from this client’s attorney today notifying us that their case had settled as planned.  1.5 million dollar settlement!  Congratulations.  Now we will be paid directly from that settlement.  Here is the catch… if this client would have lost their case, they would not have lost their home, because of CMG’s non-recourse contract.  I hope all of our clients can breathe a little easier knowing that there are cash options available to them, when there are no other.

I’ve just finished working on a medical malpractice case. In this particular case, it took me a few days of working with the client and attorney to get the documents we needed for our review due to the attorney’s court schedule. However, as this client was in a dire situation and desperately in need of money, the attorney was especially cooperative to our underwriting process. Suffering a broken leg while playing hockey, during his ER visit, the doctor failed to correctly diagnose his injury. As a result, this client later had to have two corrective surgeries and has been out of work for several months. Due to the loss of income, this client is now in danger of losing his house. It’s CSR Alicia again. Nothing makes me happier than knowing my hard work has gone towards easing a client’s financial crisis. Just recently, I spoke with a client about their medical malpractice case. They had lower back surgery that, due to doctor error, caused their body to leak spinal fluid resulting in spinal meningitis for over six months. This client has been unemployed a year now and was in desperate need of some money to pay rent for the month of February. This being the end of January, time was critical.  Thankfully, I was able to get copies of all the pertinent medical records for our funding review. This client was later approved with the help of our expert attorney. I’m happy to say that they will be receiving a check from us tomorrow morning and keeping a roof over their head.

It’s underwriter Ralph again. I’m working on a case now where we are considering a second advance on the same medical malpractice lawsuit. Not only are additional fundings possible, they happen daily! This client in particular was self-admitted to the ER within an hour of heart attack symptoms and then released without timely cardiac treatment. Unfortunately, this patient had suffered a heart attack and due to the delay in diagnosis, was forced to undergo implantation of permanent pacemaker and ICD (Implanted Cardiac Defibrillators) devices.  This oversight of symptoms has left this patient without a source for income while they await their trial.  The client originally requested a funding of $80,000 on their medical malpractice lawsuit. After our review of the case it was determined we could immediately fund the client $25,000. But that wasn’t the end of our relationship with this client! Several months later the same plaintiff contacted CMG and requested an additional funding of $15,000. After reviewing the progress of the case and speaking with the client’s attorney, we quickly sent this plaintiff an additional $15,000.  This client can continue to request additional fundings for consideration.

The benefits of additional fundings are simple.  Additional fundings are typically very quick to underwrite and represent a win-win for the plaintiff and CMG.  These fundings allow the plaintiff to reduce the time between funding and settlement, hence reduce the final total lien amount on their case.  This is a very conservative practice in our business, but another way we look out for our client’s best interest.

I hope your holidays were pleasant and relaxing. It’s important to remember what we have in the holiday season, and nothing reminded me of that more than when I reviewed a particularly sad medical malpractice case recently. A plaintiff had just lost his wife due to a long battle with lung cancer right before the holidays. As a result of a delayed diagnosis, the cancer was complicated. The plaintiff contacted us for lawsuit cash funding to help pay things that insurance doesn’t like, sadly, for funeral costs for there late spouse.
