Personal injury claims by nature are claims against someone for injuries resulting from no fault of the plaintiff.  I recently worked on a particularly sad case where, due to a motorcycle accident, a plaintiff had to have a limb amputated. The case was submitted to us first thing Friday morning and by early Friday afternoon we were able to offer this client a funding of $50,000.  I love being the person that gets to call clients and deliver good news about cash coming their way. While it doesn’t solve the emotional or physical toll taken on an injured client, it does make their situation more comfortable while they recover. I’ve just finished working on a medical malpractice case. In this particular case, it took me a few days of working with the client and attorney to get the documents we needed for our review due to the attorney’s court schedule. However, as this client was in a dire situation and desperately in need of money, the attorney was especially cooperative to our underwriting process. Suffering a broken leg while playing hockey, during his ER visit, the doctor failed to correctly diagnose his injury. As a result, this client later had to have two corrective surgeries and has been out of work for several months. Due to the loss of income, this client is now in danger of losing his house. CMG is one of the few funding companies that have the underwriting capabilities to fund medical malpractice cases, especially where large sums of money are requested. This case is currently being reviewed by one of our underwriters right now, so we’ll know shortly how much we’re able to help this client during his time of need.

It’s CSR Alicia again. Nothing makes me happier than knowing my hard work has gone towards easing a client’s financial crisis. Just recently, I spoke with a client about their medical malpractice case. They had lower back surgery that, due to doctor error, caused their body to leak spinal fluid resulting in spinal meningitis for over six months. This client has been unemployed a year now and was in desperate need of some money to pay rent for the month of February. This being the end of January, time was critical.  Thankfully, I was able to get copies of all the pertinent medical records for our funding review. This client was later approved with the help of our expert attorney. I’m happy to say that they will be receiving a check from us tomorrow morning and keeping a roof over their head.

It’s CSR Millie again. As a customer service representative, we hear everything, and my heart really goes out to those in need. For instance, I just got off the phone with a client who is looking for funding on a wrongful termination case. This plaintiff had a lung transplant and was off work on approved leave for six months, and is now partially disabled. When the plaintiff returned to work, their employer didn’t want to switch them to light duty due to disability, so instead the plaintiff was wrongfully terminated due to poor attendance, even though it was previously approved. This poor client is now faced with the struggle of finding a new job that can help her support herself, pay for her medical bills, and afford daily necessities. Unfortunately, partial disability makes the job search very difficult. Lawsuit funding is one of the remaining options for this plaintiff that still needs treatment and has no medical insurance or available cash. I am requesting documents such as the formal complaint, EEOC report and termination letter from the plaintiff’s attorney’s office so that we can review it and hopefully offer a cash funding to provide financial support until the client finds a new job or her case settles.

The best part of my day is processing each legal funding so that our clients can get their cash when they need it most. Thanksgiving is already next week.  The holiday season is upon us.  Yikes!

With this economy, many are trying to scale back on gift giving, decorations, and holiday parties.  For our clients who are in the middle of a personal injury lawsuit, and perhaps unable to work, it can be even more frustrating.  For those of us in the CSR department, we hear first hand from our clients how much receiving funding helps them through this time of year.  Last year during this season, I had one particular client that had been injured in a car accident.  Money had been tight at home, since he was unable to work.  He explained to me that his funding was going to help him give his wife and children the kind of Christmas they deserved.  The cash funding helped him pay off some of the bills the family had accumulated since his accident, and allowed them some “wiggle room” for the holiday season.

I’ve already told you a little about myself on my last blog. Now I would like to tell you more about the importance of helping our clients during the process of getting their case started with CMG! Before we submit a case to our underwriting team for review, we need to ask the client a few questions and obtain the necessary paperwork from the attorney’s office. That’s what I’m working on right now!

The importance of answering our questions when we contact a client is critical because the more we know about a client’s case and situation, the faster we are able to figure out what documents the underwriters are going to need in order to review the case. Once we have had the chance to better understand the specifics of each case, we can start requesting documents from the attorney.   It is always helpful if the plaintiff gets involved and either sends us the documents in his or her possession or contacts their attorney and requests that the documents be sent to CMG. Once we have the case’s supporting documents, we will immediately review them and contact the client’s attorney to discuss the case. After the underwriter has reviewed the case and discussed it with the plaintiff’s attorney, it is just a matter minutes before we make a cash funding decision.

From experience I know the importance and urgency of getting money when you most need it. This is why I wanted to explain a little bit about my job and CMG’s process in providing funding.  If a client is willing to work with us, the process can be very rewarding!
